dc.description.abstract Background: Efficiency and productivity of health human resources depend upon many factors. Job satisfaction is one of the keys factors for health professionals' productivity. Job satisfaction has a vital role for the success of any organization. The satisfied employees may have the biggest motivation to achieve the firms' goals successfully. Job satisfaction among HEWs has not yet studied in Ethiopia. Therefore, the objective of this study is to assess the job satisfaction of HEWs and its associated factors in South Gondar zone, Northwest Ethiopia. Method: Institution based quantitative cross-sectional study design triangulated with qualitative methods will be employed. A total of 804 HEWs will be studied. The HEWs will be selected by simple random sampling (lottery method). Data will be collected by Amharic version self administered Questionnaire and in-depth interviews. Data will be entered into a computer and analyzed using SPSS windows version 16.0. Binary logistic regression analyses will be used to test the association between dependent and independent variables and statistical significance will be considered at a p-value of< 0.05. Work plan and budget: The study will be conducted from June 23 to September 12, 2014. The total budget required for this study will be 36,245.00 ETB.
