dc.description.abstract Background: patient satisfaction is " health care recipient reaction to a salient aspect of his or her experience, expectation and preference of a service" delivered by health care service and provider. Patient satisfaction on mental health service by itself is one type of the desired outcome. Then this research was help to know Patient's perspective on the psychiatry outpatient service and implement effective management practices. In general, assessing the level of patient satisfaction and associated factors has an important role in its implications for future actions and decisions to guarantee high levels of patient satisfaction. Objectives: To assess patient satisfaction and associated factors among outpatient mental health service users at Yeka General Hospital Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Methods: - Institution based cross-sectional study design and participants was selected by systematic random technique. The tool used to measure the psychiatry's outpatient service satisfaction scale in different countries studies, including Ethiopia, based on its validity on other countries. Interviewer administered questionnaire was used to collect the data. Data was entered using EPI Info and analyzed by SPSS software. For logistic regression analyses variables with p value<0.2 at multivariate analysis were considered statistically significant. Results: A total of 589 respondents were enrolled, 560 with a response rate of 95% and magnitude of satisfaction of 67.1 %. Being in' age group 41-50 Yr. (AOR=2.02, 95% CI: 1.06,3.84) was significantly associated with satisfaction. Conclusion and recommendation: About one-third of psychiatric service consumers were dissatisfied with the service they received. Integrating patients to their own treatment plan and regular service evaluation are important to improve satisfaction. The. only significantly associated with satisfaction was being in age group 41-50 Yr. This age group has been provided for long term mental health care with mental disorders that meet expectations is one of the challenges for mental health facilities. And working on arranging health professional's schedules to help the patients to follow up with the same health care providers will be helpful. ...........................................
