Abstract:
Pandemics historically have been more devastating than any other sort of disaster due to their
worldwide spread causing significant morbidity and mortality. In the past few decades, the world has
experienced severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) (2003), H1N1 influenza (2009), Middle East
respiratory syndrome (MERS) (2012), Ebola (1976), Zika virus (1952) and the most recent pandemic,
COVID-19 (2019). To maximize community well-being and lessen pain in facing pandemics, disasters
preparedness and response are necessary (1).
